Second Act Theatre was formed in 2003 with the intention of creating a natural progression for the older members of First Act Theatre.

However we also welcome actors, or would be actors, who want the opportunity to join a professional adult theatre company, rather than the limited opportunities that amateur dramatics might offer.

Our first show in the Jubilee Theatre was a collaboration with First Act, the brilliant musical Working in October 2003. Our first full Second Act production was Little Shop of Horrors in May 2004, we staged the wartime drama, A Nightingale Sang in 2005 and in March 2007 we staged a Restoration comedy, The Country Wife, another collaboration with First Act.

We continue to work closely with First Act and have staged the musicals Oliver! in 2005, Whistle Down the Wind in 2006 and Blitz! in 2007.

Like First Act, Second Act is also based at the Jubilee Theatre in St Nicholas' Hospital, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Second Act is fully linked with First Act Theatre and receives no revenue funding from any local authority or arts body. We rely solely on production revenue and donations to run and improve the theatre.
