Singing Lessons and Musical Theatre Coaching

First Act Theatre are now offering singing lessons and group singing with Lynne Wilmot and her accompanist.

Lynne has been a professional actress for over ten years, working in television and musical theatre. In 2004 Lynne won a joint Olivier Award for Best Supporting Role in a Musical for her work in the original cast of "Jerry Springer the Opera".

Individual Singing Lessons

These will cover the techniques of singing and will be tailored to suit each individual's level, requirements and what they hope to achieve through the lessons. Students should hope to improve the technical aspects of their singing, increase their musical theatre repertoire, whilst also focusing on acting through song, to become a more well rounded performer. Solo singing lessons will be available on Wednesday evenings or Saturday afternoons - although other days may be available by arrangement.

Group Singing Lessons

These will focus on singing together, as a group, duets, trios etc. We will be looking at harmony work, vocal qualities, acting through song and the dynamics of song. This course will run for an initial eight sessions, commencing on Saturday 3rd November 2008 (3pm until 4pm).

LAMDA Examinations

Students will also have the opportunity to take exams in Musical Theatre through the singing lessons, as solo singers with the individual lessons and as a group or duet with the group lessons. These exams are purely optional.

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is the oldest drama school in the country and is the largest speech, drama and singing awarding body.

LAMDA examinations are accredited by the National Qualifications Framework and equate with school-based qualifiactions. This means that they are also counted as UCAS points for entry into university. The minimum age for LAMDA examinations is 9 years old.

Fees (not including exam fees)

Individual lessons: £17.50 per half hour or £150 for a course of 10 lessons

Group singing lessons: £40 for 8 sessions
